In line with our cherished legacy in Astronomy; the likes of Aryabhatta, Varahamihira, Brahmagupta, Lalla and following the National Intellectual Property Rights Policy 2016 and the Science & Technology Policy 2003 of the Govt. in order to adopt, utilize and integrate Science, Engineering & Technology (SET) as effective instruments for achieving the material welfare of mankind with a focus on Intellectual Property as an effective tool for economic development & social progress, in general and rural development, in particular, SSM’D organized the 4th National Conference on Innovations in Indian Science, Engineering & Technology with a focus on “RURAL HOUSING” in the capital on 4-5 March, 2017 in collaboration with CSIR-NPL to meet the need of more than a billion people in the country.
On this occasion, Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak a reknowned Social reformer & Founder President, SULABH INTERNATIONAL has been bestowed with the Swadeshi Vigyan Puraskar 2017 in recognition of his splendid contributions in the public life over several decades. A Bilingual Souvenir & a special joint issue of the Journal of Environmental Nanotechnology were also released. on this occasion by Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak and a release of also took place in this occasion by Dr. D K Aswal, Director-NPL; Prof. K I Vasu, Founder National President, SSM; Dr. N Gopalkrishnan, Director, CBRI; Dr. Harish Pandya, Sh. डाॅ. बिंदेश्वर पाठक को स्वच्छता व सामुदायिक विकास के क्षेत्र में सामाजिक क्रांति के अग्रदूत की भूमिका निभाने, मानवाधिकारों के संरक्षण, विश्व स्तर में भारत वर्ष की गरिमा बढ़ाने, जनसामान्य हेतु अति उपयोगी तकनीक विकास एवं समाज के न्यूनतम इकाई तक के उत्थान हेतु विलक्षण नवाचारों एवं सतत् प्रयासों हेतु स्वदेशी विज्ञान पुरस्कार 2017 से सम्मानित किया गया।
डा. बिन्देश्वर पाठक एक समाज सुधारक एवं सतत् रूप से कियाशील, उर्जा्रवान एवं आशाओं से भरपूर ऐसे व्यक्तित्व हैं जो समाज की वर्तमान परिस्थितियों में आवश्यकतानुसार बदलाव लाने में अपनी भूमिका अदा कर रहे हैं। उन्होने अपने विचार और दृष्टिकोण को सगंठित कार्य में परिवर्तित किया और जनस्वास्थ्य को बेहतर बनाने में नवाचार के द्वारा स्वच्छ शौचालयों की सुविधा जन जन तक पहुचाई है।मानवीय अधिकारों को सुरक्षित रखने की दिशा में उनकी और सगंठन की मुहिम ने मैला ढोने जैसी दुखद परंपराओं का भी अंत करने में भूमिका निभाई है।सुलभ 50,000 लोगो द्वारा संचालित एक सगंठन है जिसमें 1.3 मिलियन घरेलू एवं 54 मिलियन सरकारी शौचालयों का निर्माण करवाया जा चुका है। 2.5बिलियन लोगों द्वारा इस सुविधा का लाभ लिया जा रहा है।स्वच्छ पेयजल उपलब्ध कराने में भी आप द्वारा पश्चिमि बंगाल में कार्य किया जा रहा है एवं नवाचार के रूप में ज्ूव चपज.बवउचवेज.जवपसमज जमबीदवसवहल को अपनाया जा रहा है। आपके इन्हीं योगदानो के कारण न्यूयार्क के मेयर ने 14 अप्रेल 2016 को बिन्देश्वरी पाठक दिवस घोषित है तथा न्यूयार्क ग्लोबल लीडर्स डायलाॅग ह्यूमेनेटेरियन अवार्ड द्वारा सम्मानित किया है।
